Writing is Magic
QUESTION
ASSIGNMENT
Writing Autobiography
Here’s your chance to tell me about yourself as a writer and give me a little hint as to what mini-lessons we will work on in this class. Using the following questions as a guide, write an essay telling me about yourself as a writer. Don’t just answer the questions, write an essay. Be honest!
1. How do you use writing in your everyday life? What kind of writing is it?
2. What are your true feelings about writing? Do you enjoy it? Do you dislike it?
3. What is the hardest thing about writing for you personally? Beginning an assignment? Spelling? Commas? Having enough to say?
4. What is most enjoyable about writing?
5. Compare the writing you’ve done in the classroom to the writing you’ve done outside of school.
6. What type of writing do you like the most? What do you like the least?
7. What is your most memorable writing experience? Was it a story? Was it a letter or poem to a friend? Why is this piece important to you?
8. If you were a writing teacher, what approach would you use? What would be the most effective way to teach writing?
Remember, you don’t need to answer all the questions. You are really writing to tell me how you have or have not developed as a writer. Share the piece with me on Google Docs.
